The Story
Christmas 1981. Birmingham. Two brothers, one tracksuit, and a city going absolutely mental about Aston Villa. Generation Game is a warm, funny, deeply human coming-of-age story about growing up in a multiracial Black Country neighbourhood — where football is religion, family is complicated, and a Christmas present can start a war that lasts all winter. Based on Andy Dale's novel 'Just 14', the film sits in the tradition of Fever Pitch, Gregory's Girl, and Bend it Like Beckham: British comedy with a big heart and a story that travels.
"The next Fever Pitch — a film that captures a time, a place, and a feeling that millions of people will recognise."
"Warm, funny, and rooted in real lived experience. Generation Game is British comedy at its most human."
